Our commitment to accessibility

Contensu is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We believe the web should be usable for everyone regardless of ability, and we are continually working to improve the accessibility experience on our website.

Standards and guidelines

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is also the substance of the European standard EN 301 549, which underpins the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the Web Accessibility Directive. We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which includes everything those require of a site like ours, and we build client projects to the same standard.

Accessibility measures we’ve taken

  • Semantic HTML — We use proper HTML elements (headings, lists, landmarks) to convey document structure.
  • Colour contrast — Our design ensures sufficient colour contrast ratios for readable text.
  • Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard navigation.
  • Focus indicators — Visible focus outlines are applied to all interactive elements.
  • Alternative text — Meaningful images have descriptive alt text.
  • Responsive design — Our layout adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200%.
  • Reduced motion — We respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting for users who are sensitive to animations.
  • Language declaration — Every page declares its own language, so screen readers pronounce content correctly in each of our locales.
  • Theme preference — Our site respects your operating system’s dark or light mode preference.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, there may be areas where we can further improve accessibility. We are committed to addressing any issues identified. Current known limitations:

  • Custom select components are being reviewed for full screen reader compatibility.
  • Some animated elements (scroll reveal animations) may not be fully compatible with all assistive technologies. We recommend enabling reduced motion if these cause issues.

Third-party components

Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile for spam protection. Turnstile provides an accessible challenge mechanism compliant with WCAG guidelines. If you encounter any issues with the form, please contact us directly and we will assist you.
